Department of Orthopaedic Surgical Oncology plays a vital role in the management of Bone and soft tissue sarcoma. This department provides both in-patient and outpatients services. First Limb salvage surgery in Bangladesh occurs in this department for Bone sarcoma patient by Endoprosthesis Reconstruction. This department also performs tissue diagnosis by doing open biopsy or closed core biopsy for bone sarcoma patients. This department also perform fixation of bone in case of pathological fracture for bone sarcoma patients. In the in- patients department major orthosurgical procedures are performed by Orthopaedic Oncosurgeon having foreign training and vast experiences in this field.

The Palliative Care Department of the National Institute of Cancer Research & Hospital (NICRH) provides comprehensive, compassionate, and dignified care for patients with life-limiting and terminal illnesses. Our key services include:
OPD Palliative Consultation and Follow-up Services: Regular outpatient consultations and follow-up care for patients (Sunday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–2:30 PM).
Inpatient Palliative Care: 24-hour bed-based comprehensive care for admitted patients.
Pain Management Services: Specialized care for the management of cancer-related and chronic pain.
Psychological Counselling: Emotional and psychological support for patients and families dealing with cancer, grief, and distress.
Symptom Control and Monitoring: Assessment and monitoring of patient symptoms using tools such as ESAS and PPS.
Morphine Dispensing Service: Safe and strictly supervised access to essential pain relief medications.
Multidisciplinary Care Team: Integrated care provided by trained doctors, nurses, and counsellors.
Counselling Facilities: Dedicated counselling rooms providing private psychological support for patients and families.
The primary objective of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgical Oncology is to provide advanced treatment for patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas, ensure early and accurate diagnosis, and improve patients’ quality of life through modern limb-salvage surgical techniques.
The goal of the department is to enhance the standard of orthopaedic oncology in Bangladesh, promote research and innovation in cancer treatment, build the capacity of local surgeons, and establish itself as a center of excellence delivering healthcare services of international standards.
