The Department of Anesthesia is one of the most important departments of NICRH (National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital). NICRH is the only national-level hospital in our country that is exclusively dedicated to the treatment of cancer patients. As a result, a large number of complex cases come here from different parts of the country. For this reason, managing the heavy patient load has become a major challenge for both the Anesthesia and Surgery departments.

Activities
of Department of Anaesthesia includes-
· Giving Anaesthesia
in Operation Theatre.
· Pre-Anaesthesia
check-up (PAC).
· Supervision
and optimization of post-operative patients in POW.
· Provide Anaesthesia
for various procedures in specified areas of NICRH like Radiotherapy, ERCP etc.
· Establish
Central Venous Canulation, Difficult Intravenous Canulation, Naso-gastric tube
(NGT) insertion as per referral from both Surgical and Medical Departments of
NICRH.
· Anaesthesia
for emergency surgical procedures (if needed) round the clock by special
arrangement.
· Anaesthesia
related expert opinion for referred cases
The main objective and goal of the Department of Anaesthesia is to ensure patient safety, comfort, and effective medical care. The department maintains physiological stability of patients before, during, and after surgery, and provides essential anaesthetic support for various complex medical procedures.
